Wheaton' Light Battery
(Chatham Artillery)
The Chatham Artillery was created in 1785 but became a Confederate
unit on July 12, 1862 and fought at Fort Pulaski, GA 1862; Battery
Wagner, Charleston, SC, 1863; Olustee, FL; and in the retreat to North
Carolina, including the Battle of Bentonville. They were also Cleghom's
Battery, 1st (Olmstead's) Georgia Regiment. For their history see the
