HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mrs. Ione C. Bowen, 94, of Hwy. 88,
entered into rest Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at the Keysville
Nursing Home & Rehab Center. Mrs. Bowen was a native of
South Carolina but had resided in the Hephzibah area for the
past 60 years. Mrs. Bowen was a member of the Hephzibah
Baptist Church and had retired from the John P. King Cotton
Mill. She is preceded in death by her husband Harley T.
Bowen (1993) and a son Joseph A. Bowen (1950). Survivors
include three daughters, Edna Lucille Salms, Martinez, M B.
Smoak and A. Ford ; one sister, Ossie Spires, Clearwater;
nine grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 39 great-great
grandchildren and three great-great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 2003 at 11 a.m.
at Hephzibah Baptist Church with Rev. John Beck officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hephzibah-Vance Cemetery. The
family will receive friends Tonight, July 17, 2003 from 7 to 9
p.m. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorials can be
